MAAP Mission Statement

MAAP is a not for profit organisation that promotes excellence in art and technology in Australia/Asia Pacific regions. MAAP is a presentational platform to enhance awareness and exchange of creative ideas in New Media Art.

The MAAP Vision

MAAP showcases a wide range of unique art and technology projects. MAAP provides a space for artists, multimedia developers, screen practitioners, and sound artists to exhibit and profile work created in this domain. Artforms include new media installation, web design, digital graphics, animation, video, sound, photography, CD-ROM, and the Internet. MAAP (Multimedia Art Asia Pacific Inc). MAAP seeks to create an international space dedicated to fostering artistic creativity and experimentation in digital and other contemporary technologies. MAAP seeks to expand critical debate in the art form and to the wider community.

MAAP seeks to create a nexus between community, art form and the multimedia industries. MAAP is the only national festival of its kind in Australia to specialise in cultural applications of new technologies in the Australia Asia Pacific Regions. It aims to be a centre for creative cultural content and to network cultural activity using technologies through the region. MAAP showcases the latest in digital arts from across a range of art forms and practices including interactive multimedia, video, animation, performance, digital photography, sound, installation, and the World Wide Web.

MAAP encompasses a range of public events, cinema screenings and exhibitions addressing issues of audience awareness and critical engagement with works by artists using technology and screen based media. Much work has yet to be achieved to establish recognition between existing networks and to build strong dialogues between individuals and countries as development occurs. MAAP sees art and technology as a doorway to rich exchange and new possibilities that are being freshly imagined and created.
