On the 30th of July 2010, MAAP Republic hosts Gross Bodies of Light presented by Brisbane Artist Run Initiative, SPEC. For one night only, Brisbane heritage icon ‘Collins Place’ is transformed for an evening of light, sound and moving image. Brisbane artists Ross Manning, Sky Needle, Annie Robertson, Chloe Cogle, Jason Fitzgerald, Danni Zuvela, Stephen Russell, Patrick King and Nicole Gillard present new and site specific installations, performances and screen-based works. MAAP’s site-specific and public art program MAAP Republic was launched in 2010.

The first exhibition in the program was Paul Brown’s Kinetic Painting, 4^15: Studies in Perception for which MAAP created a 9m x 1.5m purpose-built projection space in South Brisbane.

MAAP Republic is seeking proposals from artists for our 2010 and 2011 programs, for this projection space format. In addition, works can be adapted for satellite sites, which may include large format LED screens and other projection surfaces.
