Christian Thompson is a Bidjara man of the Kunja Nation from southwest Queensland and is also of German Jewish heritage. His mother’s family are from Gundagai in New South Wales. Christian’s work relies heavily on the relationship between objects, space and history. His work has been shown both nationally and internationally and is held in the National Gallery of Australia Collection and the National Gallery of Victoria Collection. Thompson’s work has been exhibited in Thailand, Netherlands, Finland, Singapore, Canada, France, Italy and New Caledonia. Christian also works as a freelance curator and writer and has curated various exhibitions was also the Curatorial Assistant to Brenda L Croft for the 2000 Adelaide Biennale of Australian Art, ‘Beyond the Pale’.
Thompson exhibited in the net.works/ Online Residency as part of the MAAP in Singapore 2004 Gravity Festival.
