Born in Xian, China in 1967, Xing Danwen received her MFA in Photo and Related Media at the School of Visual Arts, New York. Xing Danwen has worked in photography since 1998 beginning with documentary and straight photography, her work has since widened in scope to include video and multimedia installation. Xing’s work has been exhibited in Mega Wave-Towards a New Synthesis, Yokohama Triennial, Japan (2001); Reinterpretation: A Decade of Experimental Chinese Art 1990-2000 at the first Guangzhou Triennial in China (2002); The American Effects at Whitney Museum of American Art, New York, George Pompidou Center, The Arles Photo Festival (2003); and On Reason and Emotion, The Sydney Biennale (2004).
