YOUNG-HAE CHANG HEAVY INDUSTRIES is a partnership between Chang Young-hae and Marc Voge, they are based in Seoul, Korea. Y-HCHI works against the limits of language in Macromedia Flash, discarding all design convention of web pages save the use of Monaco font. Their approach to web design challenges all online conventions, in that they use no font, no colour, no interactivity, simply text and music. Since the commencement of their online art career they have erased all other exhibition history and continually point to their web site for all reference of their existence as artists. Their work is succinctly timed to predominantly 1950s Jazz tracks displaying a strong relation to John Cage’s use of explicit structural timing of text.
